Ideal Precast Walls

Our new modular house is going to sit on Precast Concrete Walls from Ideal Precast. The walls are guaranteed waterproof, factory built in panels that are put together on site. They come with insulation already attached and ready to finish from inside with no need for any additonal framing. The first picture is at 9:00 am showing the gravel base that the walls sit on.

The second picture shows the walls sitting on the truck.

The third on shows the crane that lifted the walls and placed them on the gravel.

This last one shows the walls completed at 2:30pm.

Stay tuned for more details on Precast walls and more pictures of the walls.

I was wondering what product you used to weatherproof your Ideal basement walls?

  2. Sidd says:

I don’t know. It looks like black tar and it’s the same stuff used on one part of our basement that was not precast. As far as I know these walls dont even need waterproofing but they put that anyway just for extra protection.

  3. Dave says:

So are you pleased with your precast basement?

  4. Sidd says:

Yes very pleased. The walls are insulated well. Our unheated basement is not completely freezing. They made a few minor errors (window hole had wrong kind of framing, beam pockets were incorrectly placed) in the wall upon delivery but nothing that couldn’t be fixed easily on site. We have another separate block basement and that wall is pretty damp. The precast walls are completely dry.

  5. Henry says:

Do you have hair line cracks coming in the basement

  6. Sidd says:

We have hairline cracks on the outside near doors since a few days from the walls being installed and were told that is normal.

Are you still satisfied with your Ideal walls? I’m leaning towards this over superior walls or ICF’s

  8. Sidd says:

Yes so far I’m satisfied with them. They are very well insulated and also really waterproof. a block wall right next to the ideal walls is completely wet from the inside.

I used ideal precast walls on my home in Pennsylvania. The walls have multiple cracks all the way around the house. I’ve tried contacting them multiple times to come look at the walls and explain how they messed up and offer a resolution to the problem. However, no response yet. Should have known this outfit was shady whenever they wanted me to pay them before the foundation was even installed. Furthermore, the foundation was out of square and two bumpouts were a foot out of square. My advice, pay the extra money for superior walls if precast is what u want.

Tyler, when did you get your walls installed?
