I’m so glad to finally get to travel Internationally. Spring break in Portugal. First Stop – Porto. Here is how we hit all of Porto’s highlights on foot in a day. Two walking maps, one for the a.m. and one for the p.m. I start and end both at Ribiera Square (the Ponte de Dom Luís I – .Dom Luís I Bridge is right there). You can pick which one to do in the morning or the afternoon and modify the starting point of the first one to where you are staying. We were staying two minutes away from Ribiera Square so everything starts and ends there. Most places of interest are really close by so it is easy to modify these maps and move things from one loop to another.
Loop 1
Loop 1 is a 3.2 km walk, about 40 minutes. Porto is quite steep so it is a difficult walk. It ends at Ribiera square, a great spot to eat at the riverfront.
Ponte de Dom Luís I
Igreja de Santa Clara
Igreja de Santo Ildefonso
Majestic Café
I didn’t get a photo I can share. Didn’t go in either.
Capela das Almas (Chapel of Souls)
Mercado do Bolhão
We didn’t get to go to Mercado de Bolhão because it was closed.
McDonald’s
This is a historic building that is now a Mcdonald’s. I didn’t get a photo I can share
São Bento Station
If you come in by train, you’ll likely get off here. Or if you get into Porto by bus, it is a few minutes walk to here and you can remove this from the loop if that’s the case.
Sé do Porto (Porto Cathedral)
Loop 2
Loop 2 is shorter than Loop 1 at 2.5km or about 35 minutes. It also starts and ends at Ribiera Square.
Livraria Lello
Igreja dos Carmelitas & Igreja do Carmo
These churches are attached to each other.
